Indian Journalist Association (regd.) organized a flag hoisting program on Independence Day at the National Administrative Office- Ghazi Roza Tiraha, Dr. Aziz Ahmed Road, Gorakhpur, U.P. The chief guest of the flag hoisting program, senior journalist and Bureau Chief of JK 24/7 News Channel, Gorakhpur, Janab Faiyaz Ahmad was greeted by Batch Rafi Ahmad Ansari, Tricolor Billa Akhileshwar Dhar Dwivedi, Tricolor Patti Naved Alam and National President Seraj Ahmad Quraishi by putting a tricolor turban on him.
All the journalists present paid tribute to the known and unknown immortal martyrs of the nation with gratitude and the chief guest gave the message of national unity by releasing a tricolor balloon. All the journalists present saluted the tricolor flag after the national anthem and national song and took a pledge to strengthen the unity, integrity and social harmony of India with their writings.
Addressing the journalists present at the flag hoisting ceremony, the chief guest Mr. Faiyaz Ahmad said that newspapers were a powerful medium in the freedom movement. In the freedom movement, journalists awakened the public through their writings and inspired them to join the freedom movement. The feelings of the freedom fighters, their love for the nation, their passion for sacrifice and self-denial cannot possibly be imagined. How they published and edited newspapers and magazines with patience and restraint and how many financial, physical, mental and family hardships they faced for it. Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi, Maulana Mohammad Ali, Azimullah Khan, Pt. Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Mahatma Gandhi, Lala Lajpat Rai, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Chandrashekhar Azad, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Maulana Hasmat Nomani, Arvind Ghosh, Makhanlal Chaturvedi, Vishnu Shastri Chiplunkar, Barindra Ghosh, Bipin Chandra Pal, Amba Prasad, Shiv Narayan Bhatnagar, Lala Hardayal etc. were all associated with journalism.
National President Jr. Seraj Ahmad Quraishi while paying homage to the known and unknown martyrs said that journalists have to live up to their duties. Only their independent, unbiased and fearless journalism will help in the all-round development of the country.
At the end of the program, a memento was given to the chief guest and sweets were distributed among all.
