Indian Journalist Association strongly condemned the attack on journalists in Dhanbad.

If we are not alert even today, the situation of journalists will become more frightening in the future - Madhu Sinha

If the government is not serious about the Journalist Protection Act, then we are ready to hold a fierce protest from the road to the Parliament - Devanand Sinha

Ranchi, Jharkhand.

During a protest in Dhanbad city against the ED action in the National Herald money laundering case, two factions of Congress attacked each other. The son and brother of District Executive President Rashid Raza Ansari also attacked the journalists who had come to cover the incident. Their cameras were broken.

In this attack, Mohammad Shahid, a photojournalist of a daily newspaper, has been seriously injured. He is being treated at Sadar Hospital in Dhanbad. Mobiles of many journalists were snatched. However, the mobiles were returned later. The journalists of the Indian Journalist Association have strongly condemned this incident and demanded action against the culprits.

On this incident, the state president of the Indian Journalist Association, Devanand Sinha, said that this incident is extremely condemnable, we demand action against the culprits and nowadays attacks on journalists have become common. We journalists are the fourth pillar of democracy, but we ourselves are not safe. If we oppose someone, sometimes we are threatened, sometimes attacked, and sometimes even murdered. And the government remains silent, be it the central government or the state government. We and our organization have been demanding a journalist protection law for many years, but the government never paid attention to it. If the government is not serious about the journalist protection law, then we may be forced to carry out a fierce movement from the streets to the Parliament.

At the same time, National Secretary (Women's Wing) Madhu Sinha strongly condemned this incident and said that such an incident brings shame to democracy. Where even male journalists are not safe, how safe will women journalists feel there. Nowadays the condition of journalists is very pathetic. Threatening journalists has become a trend. And attacks on journalists are happening not only in Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Bihar but all over India. If we are not alert today, the situation will be even more horrific in the future.

On this occasion, senior journalists Naval Kishore Singh, Vijay Dutt Pintu, Atif Khan, Vipin Kumar Singh, Rafi Sami, Kajal Mehta, Saurabh Rai, Shreyasi Mukherjee, Nihal Shah, Amit Singh, Sujit Sinha, Aman Khan, Vijay Kumar, Salman Khan and other journalists strongly condemned this incident and demanded action against the culprits.
