Dr. Rohini Sebastian, Assistant Professor of Pathology at Jubilee Mission Medical College and Research Institute, Thrissur, Kerala, recently presented a poster on gene mutation in liver cancer at the prestigious Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) Annual Conference held in Vancouver, Canada. She was the only representative from India at this conference who was awarded the International Trainee Travel Award.
Dr. Rohini's father Dr. Sebastian is the Principal of Girideepam MBA College. He completed his M.Com from Gorakhpur University in the year 1977 and was awarded second rank with first division. He is currently a member of M.Com Club in Gorakhpur and has organized annual meetings 3 times so far. He is the Vice President of Galaxy. Almost every year he spends 3 weeks here with his family.
Dr. Rohini completed her post doctoral fellowship in molecular pathology at the renowned Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu. Molecular pathology plays a vital role in precision oncology by analysing the genetic and molecular features of cancer, guiding personalised treatment and ensuring more accurate and tailored cancer care. She is one of the few pathologists from Kerala to be trained in this emerging field. During her training at CMC, she won the Best Poster Award at the Molecular Pathology Conference held at AIIMS, New Delhi in February 2024.
Dr. Rohini, a native of Kottayam district, Kerala, has completed her DNB degree from Government Medical College, Thrissur, Kerala.
Dr. Rohini's mother, Dr. Marykutty Sebastian, former Head of Department, Department of Physics, BCM College, Kottayam was awarded PhD in Nano Physics 2 decades ago. While Dr. Rohini's
husband Dr. Jake Sebastian is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology, Amala Medical College, Thrissur.
